Home remodeling plans at some point require shopping for materials and fixtures. A critical part of planning is preparing a materials list. A comprehensive list will assist you in pricing your remodeling project as well as save you time by avoiding extra trips to the home improvement center.
The chart below is an organized way to start:
Simply fill in the room and then list the materials you will need for the planned remodel - if a section doesn't apply just ignore it or retitle it for a needed item Here's a sample for a small Kitchen Remodel:
Room: |
Kitchen |
Walls |
Ceiling |
Floors |
Cabinets |
Plumbing |
Heating |
Electric |
Paint
|
N/A |
New Laminate |
Refinish |
New sink & faucet,
New Disposal |
N/A |
New Ceiling & Sink Light |
Of course this is just a high level start - you need to detail out each area. For example under Walls where I have Paint you would need to add roller, brushes, tape, drop clothes etc.. A Home Improvement Store or local hardware store can assist you with the details. But charting out your home remodel plans can make pricing and shopping much easier.
